Zero Carbon Village

A network of lawyers and business leaders accelerating climate actions needed to achieve a just transition in Africa.

Towards a low carbon & resilient future

Africa must pursue socio-economic development within the context of a warming planet, and this presents both a challenge and an opportunity.

The collaborative efforts of lawyers and other leaders will help accelerate the successful transition to a low carbon and climate resilient future by supporting actions needed to achieve Africa's socio-economic development goals at local, national and regional levels, in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement.

Due to their positions as legal experts, custodians of ethics and trusted business advisors, lawyers are uniquely placed to support, assist and advice parties seeking to achieve their transition goals. Their impact is amplified when they ally with like-minded leaders from other professions.

Our initiative has already recruited more than 50 participants spanning a variety of sectors (private, public and non-profit), and more are joining weekly.

The Village supports the work of The Chancery Lane Project a UK non-profit that drafts climate-conscious clauses for use in contracts, empowering organizations to embark on a transformative path towards achieving net-zero emissions.

Power of Community

Our mission is to build a coordinated Africa focused effort by lawyers and other professionals to accelerate the achievement of climate and Sustainable Development Goals.

The Village collaborates with stakeholders from civil society, the private sector, local communities, and governments, to accelerate the actions needed to achieve economic and social developments goals in support of the Paris Agreement.

The Village connects and aligns with, and amplifies initiatives that share this vision.
